Sit at Your Own Risk

Sit at Your Own Risk

Another couch painting that was inspired by my friend’s backyard.
Last week’s the ‘en plein air’ group that I paint with went to Diana’s backyard again. We have a great time there. Its a comfy place with lots of interesting things to paint. I painted the same couch with different props. There was a art contest with sofa’s as the theme that we thought we would enter. I didn’t …..not enough time to finish.

I seem to like to paint chairs. Here’s another en plein air painting that I did in my friend ‘s backyard. Its very simple but I sort of like it.

Diana’s Couch

Diana's Couch

Here’s my painting of the couch. Its a watercolor on 300 lb. paper. Like my husband says, the picture of the picture looks better than the actual painting. But I kinda like it. Bright colors that haven’t been diluted is what I’m striving for.

Welcome to the Artesia Building

Welcome to the Artesia Building

Yesterday my friends and I took off painting in Hanford. This painting is of the Artesia Building which had an natural artesian well in the center of its lobby. Of course, its no longer there. But the building has been restored and made into a hotel with offices for local businesses.

Ice Cream Delight

Ice Cream Delight

People come from all around to go to this special ice cream parlor. Its ice cream is so yummy. Its been here in Hanford forever. I remember as a youngster riding in the back of my dad’s pickup going into town to get an ice cream cone. If you are ever in Hanford, you must go to Superior Diary for a delicious treat of ice cream.

Mr. Shoe Shine

Mr. Shoe Shine

Every day my friend and I walk by this wonderful man. Finally one day when my painting friends and I were deciding where we wanted to go to paint that day I spoke up and said that I really wanted to paint the shoe shine stand. And so here it is. I want to try it again in acrylic.

Bastille

Bastille

Here’s another historical building found in Hanford. It used to be the old prison. Some say there’s a ghost that wanders around up stairs. I haven’t seen it so far. This structure is located in the central park of Hanford’s downtown area. This painting has been sold.

Ready to Go!

Ready to Go!

Here’s my first attempt at painting an airplane. I kept saying to myself, “I’ having fun”. It wasn’t the easiest thing to do. But I didn’t give up and I’m pleased with the outcome. My paintings friends and I might try going out there again. Painting on sight is a definite challenge.

Abandoned House on Dover

Abandoned House on Dover

My ‘En Plein Air’ group went painting today out in the country. We found this wonderful field of sunflowers planted by this old abandoned house and decided to give it a try.
